The Photo Gallery is now open!

The gallery is now open!

This will just be a short blog post. The photo gallery, which only showed a Coming Soon disclaimer, has now been updated to show actual photos of my work.

I won’t lie to you - it was challenging to get this set up. Yes, I’ve already implemented Content Collections for both this blog and my games portfolio, but I wanted to create multiple albums of my work, and a custom modal to display each photo in full-screen. I wanted to implement something like this. They also have a blog post detailing how they created their photography portfolio, but I still couldn’t get it working for my needs.

The modal component is still do-able, but the album part was way out of my understanding of the Astro framework. I eventually found a short tutorial by “Axel’s Scribbles” that displays a responsive photo gallery, but it’s not what I envisioned. For now, this will do, and I finally have my own page to showcase my photography! But I eventually would like to come back to this gallery page to fully implement a modal view of each photo.

I will also add more photos to my gallery eventually. For now, you can look up to 10 of my photos. If you like to see more photos, check out my Instagram page, or for royalty-free photos under the Unsplash license, check out my Unsplash page.
